The West End Cultural Centre is excited to celebrate June’s first annual 100 Mile Musical Diet challenge. Our stereos will be tuned in to lots of obscure or forgotten local acts as well as to those more renowned ones, while also exploring some new Manitoba music that hasn’t been spotlighted yet. This first installment of the 100 Mile Musical Diet is a show that will capture the imagination of all Winnipeg music fans alike.

Acclaimed local hip hop outfit Magnum K.I. is undertaking the bold task of covering The Weakerthans’ album Reconstruction Site. It will be exciting to hear the Weakerthans music twisted and morphed into a completely new genre.

And for the true rock n roll nostalgist in you, local pop band Paper Moon will perform Red Fisher’s album War Wagon in its entirety. Red Fisher featured future Weakerthans’ drummer Jason Taite, and was part of the early 90’s punk scene that exploded and formed the genesis for the next round of Winnipeg bands.

This is going to be a show for the ages – a stylistic mashup to pay homage to some of Winnipeg’s most legendary acts. We’d like to thank Magnum K.I. and Paper Moon for agreeing to take on the challenge of the first 100 Mile Musical Diet!

The WECC is excited to introduce our NEW and FREE BICYCLE VALET SERVICE to our patrons on the same night as this show. Ride your bike and have it stored in a locked and safe place by our lovely volunteers while you watch the show!
