Fred Penner’s annual Kids’ Show and Grownups Pub Style Sing-a-long show continue this December 15th, 2012 at the West End Cultural Centre.

Since Fred Penner's musical career and appeal spans generational divides, it's only natural that Fred performs two shows @ the WECC; An afternoon child-friendly concert at 2pm for his newest fans and an adult only evening pub style sing-a-long with the keg taps open for those big kids.

Fred Penner’s career establishes himself as one of Winnipeg’s true icons. From the late 1960s onward, Penner has been an integral corner-stone in establishing the genre of Children’s music. The self-taught guitar player cut his teeth on the folk coffeehouse circuit in the sixties before The Cat Came Back changed everything.

Since that time he’s received eight Juno-nominations (two awards), had an internationally syndicated television show (Fred Penner’s Place), a book and video series, received an Order of Canada appointment and even an ambassador position for UNICEF Canada.

With twelve recordings under his belt, he is looking to create a new family album of "strong songs, with strong messages for the family and child" that speaks to what’s happening in the world and the importance of positive messages in these trying times.

Standing on a firm footing in television and always excited about where the mystical journey will take him next, Fred is also making room for the possibility of another series or documentary. In the meantime, he’s been touring Canada, rekindling a once-young audience of university students with a series of pub-inspired sing-a-longs.
