Virgo Rising is an indie rock band from Winnipeg, Canada. Led by vocalist and guitarist Emily Sinclair, alongside multi-instrumentalist siblings Jenna and Lauren Wittmann and drummer Isaac Tate, the group blends distorted guitars, lo-fi samples, and introspective lyricism for a sound that is both tender and expansive—“knotty and intricate but never belaboured," as Exclaim!’s Kaelen Bell describes, "a complex web of light put to tape."

Their early EPs, Sixteenth Sapphire (2021) and Vampyre Year (2023), released via House of Wonders Records, were written and recorded as the band was still finding their sense of identity. Layered guitars, textured tape recordings, and off-kilter strings and synths shaped their sound as they navigated early adulthood, exploring themes of transformation, longing, and change.

Wishbone, Virgo Rising’s debut full-length album, marks a turning point for the band. Self-produced and shaped through a deeply collaborative process, the album sees the group confidently settle into their independence. Embracing contrast and authenticity, the music moves between brooding tension and static bursts of energy layered beneath diary-like lyricism with a quiet, self-assured vulnerability.

“Wishbone feels like a big exhale,” says Sinclair. “It was refreshing to be so true to ourselves and self-produce for the first time. Each song is like a page from our collective diary, and we’re so proud of the work we put into them.”

Engineered and mixed by Lino D’Ottavio at No Fun Club and Basement Studio, and mastered by Greg Obis at Chicago Mastering Service, the album also features performances from Owen Dueck (O.D. Beresford) and Sean Henderson (Fencing). Wishbone arrives October 2, 2026 on digital platforms, vinyl, and CD.
