Marek Tyler, an artist of nêhiyaw and Scottish/Irish descent, presents his new creative offering, ASKO. 2 musicians take the stage on synths and electronic drums, with sampled cultural drums that trigger projected visuals. Oh, and there is a catwalk. There is always someone there to walk the catwalk, and this show welcomes local drag queens into the fold. Marek has assembled these elements as a way of presenting research on his family’s cultural protocols. The result is an outside-the-box, multi-media immersive soundscape informed by the nêhiyaw ways of living. Bring an open heart and an open mind, and you will learn to listen in a different register and come out of the lodge with a different perspective.
