This event is presented by the Cluster: New Music & Integrated Arts Festival
Cluster 2020 concludes with another collaboration with the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra. Four artists from Winnipeg and abroad—alongside members of the MCO— knit together pop, folk, and orchestral chamber music.
First: Winnipeg’s Raine Hamilton performs folk songs with an “otherworldly edge” in new string arrangements by Chris Byman. Gabrielle Papillon's most recent album Shout explodes in thoughtful, danceable art-pop anthems of uprising, hope and a delirious celebration of self.
Second: Synth pop duo Bad Wave (LA) describe themselves as “unaccountable freaks”. Their glimmering electronic sound fuses perfectly with new string arrangements by Patrick Hart.
Third: Winnipeg’s Slow Spirit have been described as an “impassioned and spectral” blend of folk and indie-rock. The band presents a set with new string arrangements by bassist and vocalist Natalie Bohrn.
