Position Summary

As a member of the artistic programming team the Community Coordinator is responsible for the planning, delivery, supervision, and evaluation of West End Cultural Centre programs for the target audience of children and youth 16 years under, their families, school classes, and other community groups and organizations. The Community Coordinator also oversees a number of special events, our Annual Holiday dinner and the Ellice Street Festival. The Community Coordinator works in cooperation with other venue staff to ensure all artists, patrons and participants have a positive experience.

Reports to - Artistic Director

Hours: - Part time salaried position. The successful candidate will be expected to work evenings, weekends and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling, Co-ordination, managemeet of youth arts programs

  • Initiate and co-ordinate arts events with other community groups

  • Co-ordinate the Ellice Street Festival

  • Co-ordinate the annual community holiday dinner and concert

  • Ensure public and green room areas are clean and presentable for rental use

  • Other duties as required

Education

  • Completed post-secondary education.

 Experience

  • Minimum one year of experience in a supervisory role

  • Minimum one year of experience in planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering children's programs

  • Experience in customer service

  • Experience in a non-traditional educational setting

  • Experience working with communities with diverse needs

 Skills Required

  • Ability to effectively communicate in an enthusiastic and engaging manner with children and adults in a non-traditional educational environment

  • Creative approaches to problem solving

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with staff and volunteers

  • Public speaking skills

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Leadership skills

  • Well-developed organizational skills and strategies

  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to working with staff, volunteers and other stakeholders with a wide variety of needs

House Manager

Position Summary

The House Manager is responsible for the planning, delivery, supervision, and evaluation of West End Cultural Centre’s bar, lobby and box office operations. The House Manager is responsible for ensuring that every event is properly staffed, volunteers are properly briefed, the bar is properly stocked and cleaned, that all ticket operations run smoothly and that all day-of-show issues are satisfactorily resolved. They will also work with venue renters to ensure that their events meet our professional standards. The House Manager works in cooperation with other venue staff to ensure all artists, patrons, volunteers and participants have a positive experience.

Reports to - Executive Director

Hours - Full Time salaried position. The successful candidate will be expected to work evenings, weekends and overtime when required.

Responsibilities

  • Create Eventbrite reports

  • Co-ordinate ticket sales with marketing plans, show announcements

  • Monitor, track, report SOCAN

  • Manage West End interactions with Eventbrite

  • Manage West End clothing/merchandise

  • Recruit, retain volunteers

  • Schedule, co-ordinate, train volunteers

  • Schedule, co-ordinate, train volunteer crew chiefs

  • Schedule, co-ordinate, train house managers

  • Track volunteer shifts, maintain up-to-date volunteer database, contact lists

  • Hold monthly calendar meeting with crew chiefs, house managers

  • Administer volunteer comps

  • Fill in as needed for missing volunteers

  • Take bar inventory, order bar supplies, shipping/receiving

  • Co-ordinate Serving It Safe training

  • Develop bar sales strategies for each West End show

  • Establish, maintain best practices for bar service, cleanup

  • provide and track liquor for artist hospitality

  • Stock coolers based on marketing and promotions

  • Organize/return cans for refund

  • Organize/teach bar point-of-sale system

  • Manage bar float, box office float, petty cash, ATM

  • Oversee all rentals and act as liaison between venue team and renters

  • Other duties as required

Education

·         Completed post-secondary education.

Experience
