Jocelyn Gould is a fast rising star on the guitar. Passionate about the history of jazz guitar, Jocelyn has carved out a unique voice on the instrument that is full of soul, taste and intention. After growing up in the Canadian prairies, Jocelyn said goodbye to her hometown of Winnipeg in 2016 and relocated to New York City, where she developed a profile that has taken her to international festivals —such as the St. Lucia, Detroit, and Toronto Jazz Festivals—and renowned jazz clubs. Jocelyn has performed and recorded with Freddy Cole, Michael Dease, Randy Napoleon, and Etienne Charles, among others. This past September, Jocelyn began a position as Professor of Guitar at Humber College in Toronto.
Jocelyn is thrilled to be leading a band in Winnipeg for the first time since moving away. Her debut recording, entitled “Elegant Traveller”, is a musical reflection of her past several years, which have brought about many moments of poignancy, soul searching and personal growth. Jocelyn will be joined by William Bonness on piano, Julian Bradford on bass, and Fabio Ragnelli on drums for what is sure to be a special CD release in her hometown.
