In many African cultures, the sound of the drum carries messages across the village. It is the call that gathers people to the centre, the heartbeat that announces important moments, especially the arrival of a new life. Today, that drumbeat celebrates the birth of baby Cas. Happy Birthday Cas!

Ximbombo, meaning “the sound of the drum” in the Makonde language, is calling the Winnipeg village to come together at the West End Cultural Centre for a night of joy, rhythm, and community celebration. This celebration is hosted by the West End Cultural Centre and Casimiro Nhussi (Cas).

The evening will feature performances by NAfro Band, Kelly Bado, Rodrigo M., Marco Castillo, Bola O., dancers, poetry, spoken word, and more. It will be a night of hope, resistance, unity, and pure celebration.
